The Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Rural Development and Land Reform has challenged Entrepreneurs in the Pixley ka Seme District Municipality to utilize business opportunities presented to them by the sector. This has emerged at the Global Entrepreneurship Week Sponsorship Proposal in Victoria West in the Ubuntu Municipality.
The purpose of the Global Entrepreneurship Week is to encourage or inspire Entrepreneurs to spread their wings as far as businesses are concerned. It is also to strengthen them through collaborative dialogue and information dissemination which is much needed. Departmental Supply Chain Management, Deputy Director Mr Maweto Dibane highlighted that business opportunities are there in the sector.
He presented the 10 commodities that Entrepreneurship could tender for in the Department.
1. Site drilling of borehole
2. Construction of stock water systems
3.Construction of stock water systems, Delivery and Installation.
4. Construction of greenhouses
5. Overnight reservoirs
6. Animal housing and storage facilities.
7. Shear houses
8. Construction of trellis
9. Construction of fences for proper camps thus for rotational grazing.
10. Bush encroachment and Invader Control.
Mr Dibane stressed though the significant of registering business on CSD.Meanwhile Pixley ka Seme District Manager, Mrs Ntombi Mokgalagadi talked about the Agriculture Producer Support programs.
She indicated the objectives of the programms.
* Improvement of productivity on the land available for farming.
* To ensure sustainable utilization of natural resources and Improve Farm Management.
* Livestock Improvement Programme.
* Agro processing and value addition that is able to create job opportunities.
* And support to all sectors of the livestock and crop value chain through capacity building.
Various stakeholders such as Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, SIDA, Economic Development and Tourism, Mme Reka Thusa and the Pixley ka Seme Municipality.
With such initiatives by various stakeholders bringing heads together, our aspiring entrepreneur's will have a positive, potentially life changing impact on them. This gesture will also assist to formalize small businesses in the fight against poverty and halve unemployment rate in the Districts.
