Green Career Guidance for Schools in the Province

The Communication and Awareness Raising Unit held environmental career guidance sessions from the 21-24 August 2023.

The objective of the environmental career guidance is to help learners reflect on their strengths, weaknesses, interests, ambitions and abilities to better understand which forms of post school training and professions they are best suited for. Learners dressed up as professionals of their career of choice on the day of the visit.The departmental officials planted trees with educators and learners as part of a build up to the upcoming Arbor Week in September. One of the key result areas of the sub-subprogram, Communication and Awareness Raising unit is to support educators with the integration of environmental education into schools curriculums this is according to the national curriculum statement. The career guidance took place at Willie Theron Primere, St. John Primere, Kareeville primere in De Aar, Theron high in Britstown, Delta Primere in Vosburg, Carnavon Primere in Carnavon, Nico Bekker Primere in Williston, Hoerskool Sutherland and Roggeveld Primere in Sutherland.

The team that facilitated this programme was Mr Thabo Goeieman the Communications Officer from Pixley Ka Seme, Mr. Noko Acting Manager from Communication and Awareness Raising unit.
