The Department, in partnership with the Departments of Social Development, Health, and Education, successfully held a women's dialogue at Seoding Tribal Hall in Kuruman as part of an integrated approach to combat food insecurity.
This collaboration between the departments aims to strengthen relationships in the effort to alleviate poverty. During a week-long celebration of nutrition and World Food Day, women were encouraged to adopt healthy eating habits and to recognize the importance of good health, including exercise and the establishment of food gardens. Women and young people participated in various presentations covering topics such as agro-processing, maternal health, healthy living, women's involvement in school gardening projects, cooperatives, skills development, and waste management and recycling.
Additionally, the veterinary services vaccinated approximately 590 dogs and 10 cats. This vaccination initiative is part of the Department's efforts to bring veterinary services to remote communities that previously lacked access. Around 216 pet owners expressed their appreciation for the quality of service provided by the Department.
