MEC Mase Manopole, addressed staff during the Department’s Long Service Awards ceremony held at Boontjieskraal Incubation and Conference Centre.
The ceremony recognised and celebrated individuals with many years of service and dedication to the Department. During her address, the MEC commended the recipients for their loyalty and commitment to the work of government. She further highlighted the urgency of social challenges impacting communities, stating:
“Gender-Based Violence remains one of the most painful and urgent challenges facing our country. It is an assault on our collective humanity. Fighting GBV is not a campaign for a season; it is a moral duty we must uphold every day. We must build a culture of respect, accountability and protection for all. We also pause to commemorate the many lives affected by HIV and AIDS and reaffirm our solidarity with those living with the virus. Stigma must be replaced by compassion, support and awareness.” The ceremony also included a candle-lighting session in observance of World AIDS Day, honouring those affected and remembering those lost. Awards were presented for 10 years, 20 years, 30 years and 40 years of service.
The ceremony was attended by staff members from across the Department.
