The MEC for Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, in the Northern Cape Mr Norman Shushu will be launching the National Fencing Scheme on Wednesday, 20th  March 2013 at Loopeng Village in the Joe Morolong Municipality. The Department has invested an amount of six million towards the project.



The purpose of the launch by the MEC is to assist farming communities with the improvement of fence infrastructure to enable proper utilization of infrastructure.   Communal areas in the John Taolo Gaetsewe district are heavily stocked and are characterised by poor infrastructure and deteriorating veld conditions.

The project is funded through the National Fencing Scheme and is being implemented as a labour-intensive project. The project comprises of job creation for local communities, skills development and infrastructure development.

The total km of fence is about 143km and it seeks to upgrade the border fence and internal fence of three farms  (Ashfield, Darnall and Harrow).
