Key Performance Areas
The following are the key performance areas of the aforementioned sub-directorate.

1.Project Evaluation

This initiative was conceived with a purpose of continuously assessing the performance of the funded land reform projects by the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development through various intervention programmes.
The criteria of assessment entails collecting data or information on projects such as production statistics, marketing, finance, infrastructure and well-being development of the assisted beneficiaries.
These identified areas serve the purpose of uncovering operational challenges faced by the projects as well as proving recommendations on what relevant remedial actions need to be availed to improve the farming conditions.

2.Measurement of the Performance of Agricultural Sector

This function serves to measure the performance of the different agricultural industries and how they contribute towards the economic growth of the Northern Cape Province. The information collected include amongst others, farm location, personal details of the farmers, production output, production size, production cost and revenue generated by farmers in their various activities. The information collected serves to guide all involved in the farming fraternity in decision making processes.

3.Policy Analysis

This sub-directorate component analyses relevant developmental policies to the sector in an effort to gauge or assess the impact they have and also how best they can be implemented by the Northern Cape farming community.

4.Policies and Strategies Development

The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, develops agricultural policies and strategies that are aiming at guiding, enhancing expansion or growth of the sector as well as ensuring its sustainability.
